UAE E Invoicing Deadline: What It Means for New and Growing Businesses
The first deadline in the UAE's move to electronic invoicing falls today. Here is who it affects, what comes next in 2027, and how to make sure your company is ready from day one.
| Key figure | What it means |
|---|---|
| AED 50M | Revenue threshold for the first wave |
| 30 Oct 2026 | Deadline to appoint a provider (first wave) |
| 1 Jan 2027 | Go live date for the first wave |

| 1 Jul 2027 | Go live date for businesses below AED 50M |
| AED 5,000 | Penalty for each month of delay |
The UAE has reached a milestone in its digital tax journey. According to Gulf News, businesses with annual revenue of AED 50 million or more have until 30 October 2026 to appoint an Accredited Service Provider for electronic invoicing, and must have the system running by 1 January 2027. Businesses below that threshold have more time, with a provider deadline of 31 March 2027 and implementation from 1 July 2027. In scope government entities follow from October 2027.
For most of the entrepreneurs we work with at Ampsy Consultancy, today's deadline is not the one that applies to them. But the second wave is only months away, and anyone planning a business setup in UAE right now should build e invoicing into their plans from the start.
E Invoicing in Plain Words
Electronic invoicing replaces paper and PDF invoices with structured, machine readable invoices that systems can process automatically. In the UAE model, invoices pass through an Accredited Service Provider, known as an ASP, and the required data is reported to the Federal Tax Authority. Businesses do not connect to the government system directly. The rollout covers business to business and business to government transactions, while sales to consumers are outside the mandatory scope for now.
Gulf News reports that the Ministry of Finance currently lists 65 accredited providers, giving businesses a wide choice of partners.

The Cost of Missing a Deadline
According to a separate Gulf News report, the Federal Tax Authority has confirmed an administrative penalty of AED 5,000 for each month, or part of a month, of delay in implementing the system, including failure to appoint an Accredited Service Provider within the deadline. The FTA outlined the steps as choosing a provider, signing an agreement, integrating your invoicing systems and completing the procedures on EmaraTax.
What This Means If You Are Starting a Company
If you are planning a business setup in Dubai or anywhere in the UAE, e invoicing is now part of the compliance picture alongside Corporate Tax and VAT. The good news is that a new company has an advantage: it can choose accounting software and processes that are e invoicing ready from day one, instead of changing systems later.
- Choose compatible accounting software when you set up your books.
- Register for tax on time, including Corporate Tax and VAT where it applies.
- Keep clean customer and supplier data, since structured invoices depend on accurate details such as tax registration numbers.
- Plan your ASP decision early so you are not rushing before the 2027 deadline.
This is exactly where working with experienced business consultants pays off. Getting your licence is only the first step. Setting up compliant accounting, tax registration and invoicing at the same time saves money and stress later.
Your Five Step Readiness Plan
- Confirm your group: Check your annual revenue to see whether the 2026 or 2027 deadlines apply to you.
- Review your systems: Ask whether your accounting or ERP software can produce compliant e invoices.
- Select an accredited provider: Choose from the Ministry of Finance list and confirm it fits your systems.
- Test before you go live: Run test invoices and train your finance team well ahead of the deadline.
- Complete EmaraTax procedures: Finish the required steps with the Federal Tax Authority on time.

Does e invoicing apply to a new business setup in UAE?
Yes, once your company falls within scope. If you are starting a business setup in UAE now, choose e invoicing ready accounting software from the beginning so you are prepared well before the deadline.
What happens if my business in Dubai misses the e invoicing deadline?
The Federal Tax Authority has confirmed a penalty of AED 5,000 for each month, or part of a month, of delay, including failing to appoint an Accredited Service Provider on time. Can business setup consultants in UAE help me prepare for e invoicing?
Business setup consultants in UAE who also provide accounting and tax support can help you register for Corporate Tax and VAT, set up compliant bookkeeping and plan your e invoicing timeline as part of your business setup.
